The featured image is a picture that is shown as a thumbnail on the homepage or when we share a post URL links to other platforms like X, Facebook, etc. The featured image is being proposed to describe the whole of the article content. It’s also used to attract more viewers attention who watch many articles in a short time. So, the featured image is one of your article’s key points to win SEO competition.
In several WordPress themes, the featured image always be shown while others don’t or must be configured. This means you must set the featured image (typically in ‘Post’ tab in article’s editor) by yourself, not automatically by the theme’s feature.
After you configure the featured image, your article will show like this (depending on your theme’s features)
But if you want to disable the featured image at the top of your article without removing the main functionality of the featured image (as an article’s thumbnail somewhere), you can do it with this simple action. Go to ‘Appearance-Customize’ menu, then click ‘Additional CSS’ submenu.
After displaying a new script editor, fill it with this CSS script
.wp-post-image{ display:none }
then click ‘Published’ button on the top to save your new configuration. After that check the result, your featured image will disappear from the top of your article. Why do I want to remove this image from the top? because I propose this space to display ads. If there is an image that exists, I think it shall be crowded and confuse my viewers. Good luck…
